Frequently asked questions
Below you will find answers to the most common questions about care at Mavera GGZ. Is your question not listed? Please contact us.
Yes, to access mental health care (GGZ) in the Netherlands you need a referral from your GP (huisarts) or another medical specialist. Without a referral, we cannot accept your registration and your insurer will not reimburse the costs. Ask your GP for a referral letter and, if possible, have it sent via Zorgdomein. After we receive the referral letter, a telephone pre-intake follows within two weeks.
Our current waiting time for an intake appointment is approximately 6 weeks. After the intake, treatment usually starts within approximately 13 weeks. These times may vary. Contact us for the most current information.
Mavera GGZ is contracted with DSW and RMA/RMO, and has a payment agreement with Zilveren Kruis and VGZ. If you are insured with one of these insurers, your treatment is covered by your basic health insurance, subject to your compulsory excess (eigen risico). Are you insured elsewhere? Please contact us to discuss your options.
The compulsory excess (eigen risico) is the amount you pay yourself for healthcare before your insurer starts contributing. In 2026 the compulsory excess is €385. Mental health care is charged against this excess. Your insurer will inform you directly about any personal contribution.
Yes, Mavera GGZ offers online therapy via video call. This is subject to clinical assessment of suitability. Online therapy is offered via a secure, privacy-compliant connection. You also have access to the ZSG client portal for digital exercises and contact between sessions.
Our team speaks Dutch, Turkish, English, Ukrainian, Polish, Uyghur and Arabic. We can provide treatment in these languages, which means you can express yourself in your own language during therapy.
During the intake appointment, one of our psychologists will talk with you about your complaints, your history and your treatment goals. After the intake, you will receive a preliminary DSM-5 classification and a proposal for a treatment plan. Together we discuss this plan and agree on the next steps. The intake lasts approximately 60 minutes.
Please cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance, by phone (010 – 254 38 96) or by email (info@maveraggz.nl). If you do not cancel in time, we are required to charge a no-show fee of €50 (psychologist) or €100 (psychiatrist or when two clinicians are present). This fee is not covered by your health insurance.
The duration of treatment depends on your complaint, the severity and the treatment method used. We evaluate progress after approximately 3 months and discuss the next steps together. Some clients benefit from a brief, focused treatment of a few months, while others need longer-term support.
Yes, you can register with us. Please send your referral letter to info@maveraggz.nl or register by phone on 010 – 254 38 96. After we receive the referral letter, a telephone pre-intake follows within two weeks.
Mavera GGZ is not a crisis service. In a crisis or emergency, please contact the GP out-of-hours service (huisartsenpost), call 112 in a life-threatening situation, or go to the accident and emergency department of the nearest hospital. In the Netherlands you can also contact 113 Suicide Prevention by calling 0800 0113 (free, available 24/7).
Yes, Mavera GGZ has a psychiatrist on the team. Psychiatric assessment and, where appropriate, medication management is possible within our practice. A referral from your GP is also required for this.
ZSG is a digital care platform that we use in addition to our regular sessions. Via your personal client portal (portaal.zsg.nl) you can complete exercises, questionnaires and psycho-education modules. Your therapist monitors your progress and can provide personalised feedback.
Do you have a complaint? Please contact us first; together we will look for a suitable solution. If we cannot resolve it together, you can turn to an independent complaints officer (Wkkgz). If you do not agree with the outcome, you can submit your dispute to a recognised dispute resolution body.
Mavera GGZ focuses primarily on adult mental health care (18 years and over). For children and young people, we can advise you on appropriate care providers in the Rotterdam region. Please contact us for more information.
