How we work

How your treatment works

At Mavera GGZ we know how important it is to know what you can expect. That is why we explain every step of the process clearly: from your first registration through to completion and aftercare.

Six steps towards recovery

1

Registration

Ask your GP or another BIG-registered healthcare provider for a referral letter, preferably via Zorgdomein, by post or via secure email. As soon as we receive your registration, we check that it is complete: name, address and place of residence, BSN (citizen service number), insurance details and the referral letter. A telephone pre-intake follows within two weeks.

2

Intake

The intake phase consists of three sessions, the third of which is the advice session. During the intake session we map out your complaints, your needs and your personal situation together. You complete questionnaires and sign consent forms. You also receive an explanation of our client portal via ZSG.

3

Advice

This session takes place with the intake clinician and the lead clinician (regiebehandelaar). A preliminary DSM-5 classification is established. If necessary, a multidisciplinary meeting (MDO) takes place with the psychiatrist. We discuss the classification and our treatment proposal with you. You have the opportunity to ask questions and to contribute your thoughts on the next steps. A personal treatment plan is also drawn up during this session. It contains measurable goals, the chosen form of therapy and the frequency of the sessions. The plan is aligned with your wishes, possibilities and living circumstances. You sign the treatment plan to confirm your agreement; we do not start without your consent. If needed, an extended diagnostic phase can take place, in which further assessment is carried out to clarify the diagnosis.

4

Treatment

Therapy starts with a regular therapist who matches your needs. The lead clinician (regiebehandelaar) coordinates the entire process and maintains oversight. We work with proven effective methods such as CBT, EMDR, ACT and schema therapy. Where desired and appropriate, we involve loved ones in the treatment. Waiting time until the start of treatment: approximately 13 weeks after registration.

5

Evaluation

Once every three months we evaluate your progress together. You complete ROM questionnaires to map your complaints objectively. We discuss whether the treatment is working, whether the goals need to be adjusted and whether the form of therapy still fits. The treatment plan is adjusted where necessary.

6

Completion and aftercare

At the end of the treatment we hold a final session together with the lead clinician (regiebehandelaar). We make concrete agreements about what you can do in the event of a relapse and who you can turn to. Your GP receives a closing letter (if you give permission for this) with a summary of the process, the diagnosis and any recommendations for the future. This way you are well prepared for the period after treatment.
